Our consulting practice recognizes that learning is a continuous, life-long and collaborative process vital to the success of an organization.  Areas of focus for our organizational development work include:

Curriculum/instructional Design and Development

Innovative and modular course offerings linked to the competency needs of an organization's staff keep them informed, experienced and knowledgeable in their professions.  A targeted and well-designed curriculum or series of courses that build on assessed organizational needs can provide numerous opportunities for staff to contribute to the strength and viability of the entire organization.  It can provide training in needed leader and team competencies; develop a pool of qualified leaders, facilitators and coach/managers; provide technical training to new staff; and provide development opportunities for current staff.

SJL Associates also designs curriculum and training programs that help meet an organization’s specific technical needs.  Working with an organization’s subject matter experts (SMEs), (and undertaking research where appropriate) SJL Associates will design and develop instructional materials ready for use by an organization’s SME or trainer for delivery to their employees

Organization Climate Studies

An organization’s climate is the human environment within which employees do their work.  It may refer to the environment of a department, division, or an entire organization.

We cannot see climate or touch it, but like the air in a room, it is there.  It surrounds and affects everything that happens in an organization and, in turn, climate is affected by almost everything that occurs in an organization.  It is a systems concept that reflects an organization’s entire life-style — its vision, values, culture, leadership and staff performance.  When that life-style can be improved, measurable gains in performance are likely to occur.

An organizational climate study is a way to measure and articulate an organization’s environment as perceived by the staff who work in it.  Once clearly articulated, steps can then be taken to improve the operating environment where necessary, or to sustain the organization’s strengths.
